Education is a vital pillar of our mission, providing our brotherhood with the tools to grow, connect, and thrive. The San Antonio Leathermen host a variety of structured classes, open discussions, and engaging lectures covering everything from leather traditions and queer culture to personal health and critical community topics. Our membership serves as an invaluable, living resource; our seasoned leather and kink community veterans actively step up to share their deep knowledge, specialized talents, and decades of lived experience.
We are always welcoming new brothers who want to teach or learn. Whether you want to step up to the podium and share your unique expertise, actively participate in our hands-on workshops, or simply sit back and soak it all in, there is a place for your curiosity here.
For brothers who love to dive deeper, our dedicated SAL Book Club offers a powerful space for collective learning. Books are chosen entirely by the group's interests, spanning a spectrum from lighthearted history to heavy, provocative topics that challenge our perspectives, spark intense joy or pain, and open our minds to entirely new understandings. Above all, every class, lecture, and chapter read takes place in a secure, supportive space surrounded by like-minded brothers who look out for one another.
How did we get here? Someone had to spread the news! Our membership as a whole is a deeply prideful bunch, and we love nothing more than actively welcoming those we meet who share an interest in—or are already a vibrant part of—the leather and kink scene. Within our club, we have a dedicated group that makes it their personal mission to show up first, ensuring that both our absolute newest members and our seasoned veterans feel seen, respected, and genuinely welcomed at every single event.
Because it truly takes a village to support this brotherhood, our Membership Committee works in close tandem with the Social Committee. From the moment you decide to join, this team is right by your side to guide you seamlessly through our membership qualifications and stand as the warm, welcoming smile at every gathering—always there to help a brother out. If you possess an outgoing personality, thrive on making people feel at home, and carry a deep service mentality, this committee will always welcome you with open arms.
Our Social Committee is the heartbeat of our brotherhood, curating a dynamic calendar built entirely around the diverse interests of our members. We believe that strong bonds are forged both in our dedicated spaces and out in the community, giving everyone a multitude of ways to show up and connect. Every month, we keep our calendar stacked with opportunities to gather, including casual monthly movie nights, foodies night out, dedicated Leather and Gear Nights to showcase our passions, and our vibrant monthly club socials where we meet at premier venues along the Main Avenue Strip or around the city just to drink, relax, and visit.
In addition to our public gatherings, the committee coordinates exclusive, private member-only events—including legendary summer pool parties, festive holiday gatherings, and special intimate mixers. We also look beyond San Antonio, actively coordinating club invitations and group travel to massive leather events and runs across the Lone Star State. All members are invited to stack their calendars full of opportunities to connect with their brothers and the community. If you are someone who loves planning, hosting, and making connections, joining our Social Committee is always highly welcomed!
True brotherhood is measured by how we lift up the community around us, and our Fundraising Committee is the engine that makes it happen. This dedicated group coordinates the strategies, events, and initiatives that secure the vital funding needed to keep our club strong while directly giving back to non-profit queer organizations and essential community causes. Aligning perfectly with our core mission, they turn our collective passion into real-world impact.
From organizing charity drives and dynamic benefit events to managing club merchandise and sponsorships, this committee ensures we have the resources to thrive and the power to make a difference. It is a profound way to serve our brothers and the city at large. If you have a knack for charity coordination, event organizing, or simply want to use your talents to generate resources that empower the LGBTQIA+ community, your energy is highly welcomed here.
